The Black Mile
Don't. Get. Out.
The locals have a warning about the Black Mile: never stop there after dark.
Alison Chilvers has never been particularly superstitious. When her convertible breaks down on a lonely stretch of woodland road, she and her fourteen-year-old daughter, Molly, leave it behind and walk towards a garage marked on their satnav. It's an inconvenience, nothing more. Except the garage never appears, the road seems to lead back to itself, and when they finally find their car, it's occupied by two people who look exactly like them.
The other Alison drives away. The other Molly screams something neither of them understands.
Before long, mother and daughter discover that the Black Mile is home to an impossible collection of stranded travellers. Some have been there for far longer than they should have survived. Some have learned to cooperate with the other versions of themselves. Others have become so desperate to escape that they're prepared to do almost anything.
An elderly couple have spent what feels like a lifetime searching for a way home. A young family are struggling to keep themselves together in a place where even recognising your own children has become complicated. And somewhere along the road, a motorcyclist has decided that violence is the simplest solution to his problems.
As Alison and Molly struggle to understand the rules of their extraordinary prison, they discover that finding one another and finding a way out may be two very different challenges. Every person they encounter has their own history, their own fears and their own claim to survival.
The Black Mile is only one mile long. The night is running out. And the people who look most like you may be the ones you have the greatest reason to fear.
**A claustrophobic supernatural horror thriller about identity, survival, family and the terrifying consequences of encountering yourself.**
